JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT


The Executive Director of Songea District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for nine (09) job vacancies in this Council, after obtaining permission from the President's Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance, as per the following breakdown:


1.0 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY GRADE II - 04 POSTS


1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


i.   Typing letters, reports, ordinary and confidential documents;

ii.Receiving guests, presenting their problems, and informing them when they can be assisted;

iii.Maintaining records of events, appointments, meeting dates, supervisor's travels, and other work schedules;

iv.Searching for files and documents needed in the execution of work duties;

v.Receiving files and distributing them to relevant Officers in the Department/Unit/Section;

vi.Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents to relevant sections;

vii.Arranging extracts and making preparations for various meetings;

viii.Preparing a list of requirements for office equipment; and

ix.Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.


1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT


To be employed, candidates must be Form Four or Form Six leavers with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA level 6 certificate in Secretarial Studies. Furthermore, they must have passed a Shorthand subject in Kiswahili and English at 80 words per minute and obtained training in office computer programs such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher from any institution recognized by the Government.


1.1.3 SALARY


The position of Office Management Secretary Grade II has a salary grade of TGS C.


2.0 DRIVER GRADE II - 05 POSTS


2.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


i.  Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to determine the safety condition of the vehicle.

ii.Transporting staff to various locations on official trips.

iii.Performing minor vehicle repairs.

iv.Collecting and distributing various documents.

v.Cleaning the vehicle.

vi.Filling out and maintaining records of all trips in the trip logbook.


2.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT:


To be employed, the applicant must have a Form IV certificate and a Class C or E driving license, with which they have worked for not less than one year without causing an accident. They must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or NIT or another institution recognized by the Government.


2.2.3 SALARY GRADE:


The position of Driver Grade II has a salary grade of TGS B.


GENERAL CONDITIONS


i.   All applicants must be Tanzanian Citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.

iii.All applicants must attach a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a reliable address, accessible telephone numbers, and an Email address, together with the names of three reliable referees.

iv.All applications must be accompanied by copies of certified Academic and Professional Certificates by a Lawyer/Attorney, which are Form Four/Six certificates for those who reached that level and various training completion certificates according to the job requirements. Diploma/Certificates, - Form IV and Form VI Certificates, - Computer Certificate, - Professional Certificates.

v."Testimonials", "Provisional Results", "Statement of Results", Form Four and Form Six Results Slips WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

vi.Applicants who studied outside the country must ensure their Certificates have been verified and approved by the relevant Authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE).

viii.Applicants who have retired from Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.

ix.Applicants for the Driver Grade II position with a Class E or C license MUST ATTACH driving certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective classes.

x.Submission of false information and qualifications will lead to legal action against the involved individuals.

xi.The deadline for submitting job applications is November 18, 2025.
